About TYEGD

Tanzania Youth Espouse for Gender and Development (TYEGD) is a youth Non-profit organization registered in 2017 under NGO Act 2002, with registration number 00NGO/0009374. It is focused on training, advocacy campaigns, economic empowerment programs and access to innovations in the Agriculture, Environmental, Education, Health and Gender Equality and Social inclusion sector in Mara and Mwanza regions.

Our goal is to increase the health, well-being and livelihood of communities, particularly women and youth. We deliver training workshops, develop and disseminate social awareness campaigns, introduce farmers and other beneficiaries to innovative solutions, and organize conferences and dialogues.

Agriculture Livelihood and Environmental Protection

TYEGD empowers diverse groups of youth and community in general to recognize their constitutional rights and roles in addressing Gender Equality and Social inclusion focusing on the following key areas.

To support young people to become main actors for social change in the community by fighting against inequality through education and empowerment.

Our Impact

TYEGD has so far reached four districts of Bunda, Butiama, Musoma rural in Mara Region and Ilemela in Mwanza Region during the implementation of the African Cassava Agronomy Initiatives (ACAI) project, reaching out to extension officers, Lead farmers, food processors, buyers, farmer groups and farmers as main actors in improving cassava crop production and productivity

Cumulatively TYEGD has reached more than 15,500 farmers through African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) project with the use of digital literacy learning materials and bundling services for improving agricultural production and productivity

Reached in and out of school, 860 adolescent girls and 450 boys through our response to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (SRHS) programs

Integrated gender-related programs in 57 existing “club ya juu” in 57 primary schools in the Mara region

Participated twice in VI agroforestry exhibitions and once in reaching out to 458 males and 760 females through display and educational activities.

Reached out to the community through conferences and awareness-building campaigns

Our Approach

TYEGD uses a bottom-up and holistic approach in identifying and implementing its programs. It adopted a participatory and self-sustainable approach through which beneficiaries and stakeholders are involved throughout project identification, planning, management, implementation, and evaluation. The organization does this through, Partnership, Capacity building, and empowerment, Peer to peer education, Health Clubs, Advocacy and Influence, Dialogues, Conferences, Research, and Learning
