Nurture Capital Stakeholder Meeting and Due Diligence Visit to Tanzania

During the week of March 4th– 11th March,2024 the Nurture Capital team embarked on a comprehensive mapping exercise and due diligence trip to Tanzania. The primary objectives were to understand the landscape of agriculture investment opportunities, assess challenges faced by stakeholders, and identify potential areas for collaboration and investment.

Activities:

Planning Session

The team convened for a planning session to outline objectives, strategies, and logistics for the upcoming visits to various regions in Tanzania. The daylong meeting was carried out at Moyo Kitchen in Dar es Salaam.

Stakeholder Engagement in Geita Region

The team proceeded to the Mwanza region and then to Geita region, where they connected with stakeholders there. They were joined by Dr. Peter Mlay, the TARI Root Crops Research Country Coordinator.

Stakeholder Meeting with Africa Inland Church Tanzania (AICT)

  • Participants:
    • Onai Ayoub – Assistant Development Coordinator,
    • Deogratias Ngotio – Agro Technical Officer,

  • Topics Discussed: Introductions, conservation agriculture, climate action, and gender issues programs pioneered by AICT

Followed by a visit to two farmers implementing conservation agriculture methods.

Visit to Cassava Processor

Upon returning to Mwanza, the team met with a cassava processor and toured the facilities.

    • Dr. C. S. Kivuyo DVM, Managing Director – Misenani Agri Services (Mwanza),
  • Misenani Agri Services specializes with Distribution of Agriculture & Live Stock Drugs and Inputs, Commercial Broiler Production, Feed Milling, Veterinary Clinic and Hatchery.

Friday, March 8th: Mara Region Visit

  • Meeting with acting Administrative Secretary for Economy and Production-Mara region and Regional Agricultural Officer at Regional Commissioner’s office to discuss investment opportunities, gaps, and challenges faced by the commission.
  • Participants:
    • Eng. Mwita Okayo Chacha, acting Administrative Secretary for Economy and Production-Mara region
